Rebuttal of article in Workplace magazine, Jan/Feb 2009: Coaching has
become a common term for many different activities and initiatives in
the last 10 years. Many related professions are using the word
“coaching” to “dress up” their services – presumably to appear more
current, and to have their service appear more attractive to the buyer.
How is the market supposed to understand what a professional coach is,
when there are so many different professions offering this
misunderstood activity and most of them not following a common set of
standards?

Globally Harmonized System, or GHS, is a new international system of
Classification and labelling of Chemicals. The goal of the GHS is to
standardize and harmonize the classification and labelling of chemicals
using a logical and comprehensive approach internationally. The GHS
will define health, physical and, environmental hazards of chemicals
with a goal of harmonizing a standard set of rules for classifying
hazards by using a common format and content for labels and safety data
sheets (SDS) to be adopted and used worldwide.

This past November, 150 girls from grades seven and eight in the Peel
region of Ontario descended on Microsoft Canada’s Mississauga office
for three days. They were there to learn about fun and rewarding
careers in technology – and to be inspired to continue taking programs
in school that would enable them to enter into careers in IT.
